Starhawk Workshop, 28th August 2011, Earth Spirit, Earth Action,

Earth Spirit, Earth Action – a one day workshop with Starhawk

Bringing magic to our actions, and action to our magic.

We live in tough times, for the Earth and those who love her. Engaged spirituality can be about challenge as well as comfort, confrontation as well as healing. Magical activism is the blending of earth-based spirituality with action in the world. When we truly “get it” — the Earth as an intricate and living being, our mother Gaia — we are responsible to take action on her behalf. What are some of the core principles and practical methods of magical activism? How might this also support involvement with Transition Towns?

Starhawk is one of the most respected voices in modern earth-based spirituality. She is also well-known as a global justice activist and organizer, whose work and writings have inspired many to action. She is the author or coauthor of twelve books, including The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess, long considered an essential text for the Neo-Pagan movement, and the now-classic ecotopian novel The Fifth Sacred Thing, soon to be made into a film. Starhawk’s newest book is The Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups, forthcoming in November 2011, from New Society Publishers.
